Hello!

My name is Hiroto Hayashi, it's nice to meet you. I'm happy to see you here!

My mission in life is to help connect people to the outdoors and the natural world through various forms of storytelling, education, and communication. Most of my work is focused on fishing and hunting. My job as a conservation communicator with DJ Case and Associates allows me the opportunity to engage people in conservation and help state and federal natural resource agencies better communicate with their constituents.

Alongside my professional work, I have always had a passion for creative non-fiction writing and photography. My creative work, showcased by this website, is a collected resource for my published writing and photography. In a period of history characterized by social media and mass-produced, quick, fast-food-like soundbites of information and entertainment, I try to bring a slower, value-added approach to my craft. Hunting and fishing are activities that are declining, yet they put us in touch with something greater than ourselves. The stories made, experiences had, journeys taken, friends met, and meals eaten through hunting and fishing bring us together in a way that few things do. These activities provide real, lived challenges that are recreational in nature, yet carry with them the perfect balance of gentle danger, endless novelty, joy, and even failure. I believe it is vitally important to share these activities with others.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a look at the ways I try to tell these stories and help people tell theirs. Please feel free to contact me with ANY questions you might have. I look forward to talking with you!

-Hiroto Hayashi
